In the early 1900s, the discovery of The Artifact made the impossible a reality: Space Travel.
Now, armed with only his sketchbook and a thirst for adventure, Colton Gallagher finds himself on a magical new world. Whatever mysteries he uncovers and whatever discoveries he makes, he will be certain to keep you, his good friend, updated with letters from across the stars.
You will receive two letters a month complete with Colton’s sketches of the things he sees and the people he meets along the way.
We are a husband and wife team from Milwaukie, OR who believe imagination and story are key ingredients to a happy life. We aim to provide a novel form of entertainment, free from screens and focused on wholesome characters and heartfelt adventures. What is Penned Adventures?
Penned Adventures is a letter subscription service sending you two handcrafted letters a month that tells a cohesive story over the course of a year.
How does the story work?
Each month you will receive two letters written from the perspective of Colton Gallagher, a young adventurer exploring a new world. Each letter is connected, unveiling the story over the course of a year.
Do I need to start at the beginning?
Currently we only have one story that is meant to be read from beginning to end. Regardless of when you subscribe, you will receive the first letter, and will continue receiving letters for a year from your start date.
What will I receive each month?
You will receive two letters that move the story forward and include Colton’s sketches of what he sees along the way. You will also receive stickers with your first letter as a welcome gift, and something special at the end for completing the journey!
What makes these letters special?
Immersive storytelling is what sets Penned Adventures apart. Each letter is written from the perspective of a character in the story, making the world feel alive and real.

What age is this for?
The letters are written with 8-12 year olds in mind, but can be enjoyed by anyone who loves adventure, mystery, and exploring new worlds.

Yes. While there’s no telling what dangers lurk in the ruins of Penumbra, the tone of the letters is lighthearted and fun.
How does the subscription work?
When you subscribe you will be billed once for the year and will receive two letters a month.
Can I cancel?
Cancellations can be made but we are only able to give refunds for the letters you have not received.
When will my letters arrive?
Arrival times vary depending on where you live, but all letters are mailed on the first and fifteenth of every month. If you subscribe on or after the fifteenth, your first letter will be sent on the first of the following month.
Do you ship internationally?
At this time we are unable to ship outside of the US.

Physical letters help bring the magic of the adventure to life by offering a real-world connection to the characters and events of the story. Not to mention, nothing beats the feeling
Can I keep the letters?
Yes! Each letter is handcrafted as a keepsake item. You can even purchase a Penned Adventures-themed box to store them in.
Who makes the letters?
All of the letters are written by us, while the art is designed using AI software, guided by us, then hand traced to match Colton’s sketchbook style.
